Border
Shredders fills a special niche
in Laredo business

Laredo's
first document shredding company, Border Shredders,
Inc., has recently opened for business, the brainchild
of Elena Amici and Dee Ann Novoa, who between them have
50 years experience in business.
With Laredo being the second fastest growing city in
the United States and with new businesses opening daily,
Amici and Novoa found a niche in Laredo for this nationwide
growing industry. Before the establishment of Border
Shredders, firms from Houston and San Antonio made periodic
trips to Laredo to conduct paper disposal service.
Border Shredders provides services in the destruction
of obsolete or unnecessary documents and other computer,
audio, or video media.
Many businesses such as offices for doctors, attorneys,
or CPAs generate piles of sensitive documents, which
eventually become obsolete and require proper disposal.
For many companies and non-profit organizations, their
most valuable asset is information in the form of financial
records, personnel files, payroll data, customer lists,
contracts, and computer disks. If these sensitive documents
are discarded carelessly, problems can arise. Shredding
is the most reliable and economical way to keep unwanted
and obsolete records from being read by the wrong people.
Border Shredders, Inc., is a Texas corporation which
offers its customers the option for pick-up or delivery
of the documents. Once the confidential information
arrives at the Border Shredders facility, it is accurately
weighed and thoroughly destroyed by shredding it. All
classified documents and multimedia materials such as
microfilm, x-ray film, microfiche, computer tapes and
disks, and audio and video tapes are shredded. Once
the destruction of the sensitive information is complete,
Border Shredders sends a "Certificate of Destruction"
that verifies all information received has been destroyed
in a confidential manner.
Border Shredders works with each customer to develop
a systematic approach to the service that results in
the fulfillment of each customer's requirements. In
this respect, a logistical plan is developed to suit
customer needs and requirements, and at the same time
maximizes company operational effectiveness.
"Border Shredders is poised to fill the document
shredding void in Laredo. We are a local firm ready
to provide the very best professional service possible
to our customers," said Amici.
"Shredding is the most reliable and economical
way to keep unwanted and obsolete records from being
read by the wrong people," she added.
"I am excited to bring this service to Laredo,"
said Novoa. "It is the first of its kind and I
am happy to be a part of it with a partner and long-time
friend."
