Joe Brand leads fundraising
effort
for Children's Advocacy Center
By Paul de la Peña-Franceschi
With the holidays fast approaching,
many Laredoans have taken the spirit of giving to
heart and have spent months preparing to raise funds
for the Children's Advocacy Center of Laredo (CAC).
The bi-annual Red Carpet Christmas style show and
dinner, scheduled for December 4, will feature world
class designers such as Kerry Grima, Versace, Lazaro
Diaz, ABS, and Hugo Boss.
Joe Brand of Laredo, the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust,
International Bank of Commerce, L&F Distributors,
and other local supporters plan to make this year's
event an unforgettable experience that greatly benefits
the CAC's plans for a new building.
Patrons at the gala dinner and style show can bid
on auction items which include an all expense paid
trip to New York City to see the latest designs of
Diane Von Furstenberg, an all expense paid trip to
Washington, D.C., a San Antonio getaway with tickets
to the exclusive Dominion Country Club and tickets
for a show at the Majestic Theatre, Versace luggage,
jewelry by Lazaro, and dinner for 10 at the Cadillac
Bar. Additionally, there will be a raffle in which
100% of the proceeds will benefit the Children's Advocacy
Center.
"Nothing is more important than educating our
community and letting people know that this is how
life has to be for young abuse victims," said
Terri Deutsch, a CAC board member. "We can all
help make a change for children's lives and the lives
of their families. The CAC is really at its inception
and has made a great deal of progress in a short amount
of time. This is the perfect moment to step up and
make a dream of a new facility for the center a reality."
Josephine Brand said she was happy to participate
and that this year is the second time in three years
that Joe Brand could participate in such a meaningful
way. "If your efforts are worthwhile, give to
a charity that is worthwhile," said Brand.
"Mrs. Josephine Brand was a dear friend of Lamar
Bruni Vergara, and we are happy to be assisting,"
said LBV trustee Judge Solomon Casseb, Jr. "We
are carrying forward the great vision that a great
lady did for the people of Laredo. She left a sizeable
estate for the benefit of the people of Laredo in
the areas of religion, health, and education."
Now that Joe Brand and the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust
have teamed up, they are calling on the Laredo community
to once again support the CAC's Capital Campaign Fund.
The Red Carpet Christmas dinner and style show is
scheduled for Thursday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. To
