Check
out TAMIU’S make-over of The Bridge;
let KLNT know if you want talk radio back on the air
Looks
like a paper, acts like a paper. Take a look at The
Bridge, Texas A&M International University’s
student newspaper. The publication, which now features
color pictures, has undergone a very nice transformation.
Calling itself "The Vanguard of Free Thought
for South Texas," the paper moves along nicely
and with a new tone of clear communication under editor-in-chief
Paul Martinez and faculty advisors Lilia P. Elizondo
and Randy Koch of the university's Writing Center.
Stay tuned. Kudos to Open Coffee Bar for showing their
support of The Bridge by buying the back cover.
Chance Sampson of Senator Judith Zaffirini's Austin
office did an excellent job coordinating the recent
hearing the Senator hosted in Zapata regarding water
levels in the Falcon Reservoir and its impact on the
local economy. As a member of the media, LareDOS was
aware firsthand of Sampson's good communication and
networking skills. Other members of the Senator's
staff at the three-hour hearing included Connie Hernandez
and Beth Bryant of the Austin office and longtime
and ever dependable staffer Karen Mejia of the Laredo
office. The well-attended hearing was covered by the
Associated Press, Laredo and Nuevo Laredo newspapers,
Laredo TV stations, and Valley newspapers.
The un-official rrruun-rrruun about radio is that
KLNT will be back on the air with talk radio. To play
a deciding factor in that possibility, log onto www.klnt1490.com
and let them know that's something you want. Attn:
Tom Wade! You only get one vote.
At KGNS-Pro 8 News, Christina Medina will take the
co-anchor spot with Polo Gonzalez, and Michelle Cortez,
formerly of KVTV, joins the KGNS staff as a reporter.
The 10 p.m. news broadcast on KGNS, you may have noticed,
can be heard in Spanish. Find SAPS (Second Audio Programming)
on your remote under "Options." That's the
voice of Mariella Pedraza Alasi.
