announces promotions,
new personnel
International Bank
of Commerce has recently promoted personnel and added
new staff in several areas of operation. Rebecca Banda
has been promoted to first vice president; Angelica
Padron has been promoted to assistant cashier; Daniel
Saldaña has been hired as a sales representative
for IBC Insurance Agency, Inc.; and Judith I. Wawroski
has been promoted to vice president.
Rebecca Banda holds the position of manager of the
Quality Control Department. Employed by IBC for over
24 years, she has experienced many different aspects
of banking. As first vice president, she oversees
employees in backroom operations in the departments
of Quality Control, Currency Transaction Reporting,
Loan Reconciliation, and Certificates of Deposit.
Corporate duties include the centralization and consolidation
of backroom functions in operations and training on
policies, procedures, and bank regulations. Other
responsibilities involve committee work in bank conversions
and the design of bank software.
Banda graduated from Bank Operations Schools at East
Texas University and the University of Texas at Austin.
Locally, she attended Laredo State University and
Laredo Junior College. She has also attended numerous
seminars on bank operations and compliance, including
the Bank Secrecy Act Regulations. She volunteers for
and supports various non-profit organizations including
the Jalapeño Festival and United Way.
Angelica Padron has become one of IBC’s newest
officers with her promotion to assistant cashier for
the Payroll Department. She is responsible for reviewing
and approving payroll processing for IBC corporate-wide.
She is also responsible for preparing and reporting
tax returns for all payroll-related taxes. As a member
of the Human Resource (HR) Department, she helps assist
employees with questions or concerns regarding payroll
or HR issues. She has served as payroll processor,
human resource lead, and payroll supervisor for IBC’s
Laredo operations since 1998.
Padron has volunteered for various non-profit organizations
and events such as the March of Dimes and the American
Heart Walk. She is also an active member of IBC’s
Employee Advisory Board and has been named Employee
of the Month in May 2002 and August 1999.
Daniel Saldaña brings 17 years of insurance
sales experience to his position as a sales representative
for IBC Insurance Agency, Inc., in Commercial Property
and Casualty. He has previously concentrated on commercial
group health and life products, commercial property,
and casual business insurance. He received two "Top
Sales" awards and was named a "Top Five
Salesman" during his tenure at another company.
A San Antonio native, Saldaña attended Our
Lady of the Lake University. He was also enlisted
in the United States Navy, from which he received
an honorable discharge in 1992.
Judith I. Wawroski has been promoted to the position
of vice president at IBC’s main branch. She
is responsible for preparing financial statements
and various regulatory reports for International Bancshares
Corporation and its subsidiaries and also manages
the Investment Securities department. She is also
responsible for the day-to-day operations of International
Bancshares Corporation and its other subsidiary companies.
Wawroski began as a staff accountant with IBC in 1996,
was promoted to assistant cashier, and later served
as assistant vice president for the Accounting Department.
Wawroski holds a Bachelors of Business Administration
in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
She is an active volunteer and member for various
organizations including the March of Dimes WalkAmerica,
the Laredo Elks Lodge #2806, Laredo Little Theatre,
and Jam for George.
