| LISD students takes honors at City-Wide Poetry Contest
Students from Laredo Independent School District participated in the city-wide Poetry Contest held at the Laredo Public Library recently. The students were asked to write an original poem no more than two pages long in any topic.
The students who placed in the first through third grade category included Samantha Nicole Rico of Farias Elementary School , first place; Irving A. Nolasco of Farias Elementary, second place; and Eunice Gonzalez of J.C. Martin Elementary School , third place.
Honorable mention in this category included Melissa M. Aguirre, Karyme Mendiola, Ali Galvan, Erik Villarreal, and Maria Elena Ortiz, all from Farias Elementary.
Kassandra C. Rios from Farias Elementary placed in the fourth through fifth grade category. Honorable mention in this category included Rosy Banda, Jessica Guevara, and Veronica P. Martinez of Farias Elementary.
LISD students placing in the high school division from Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts were Samuel A. Ramirez, first place, and Annalisa Benavides, third place.
Honorable mention in this category went to Christopher Melendez, Rolando Santos, Iliana Arambula Cynthia Gomez, Liliana Ruiz, Isamael Flores, Juan José Lopez, Cassandra Gamez, Kristelle Barderena, and Adriana Aun, all of the Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts.
All winners were awarded with certificates and ribbons. Students that placed first, second, or third place also received a dictionary and a monetary reward from the International Bank of Commerce. |
