Videotape, sex, and lots of lies

By Henri D. Kahn

George W. Bush looked up to the heavens just the other day and screamed, "WHY ME, LORD? WHY ME?"

Suddenly George W. saw jagged bolts of lightning, felt the sound of ear-splitting thunder, and heard:

"YOU SHOULD'VE READ THE PETER PRINCIPLE BEFORE YOU SNEAKED YOUR WAY INTO THE PRESIDENCY, GEORGE!"

Dubya got promoted way beyond his capacity to handle his current job. His ignorance of world affairs, this country's economy, and his cowboy, knee-jerk, callous method of approaching the duties and necessities of a chief executive have us in a real pickle of problems.

I am neither a Liberal nor a Conservative, politically. My interest is to live in a country whose leaders are civic-minded, intelligent, and honest. Virtually all I read, see, and hear these about the current administration in Washington concerns one shenanigan after another.

Rush Limbaugh screams through his narcosis about the terrible liberal agenda and actually attracts an audience of what I consider concerned but completely duped people who call themselves conservative. These so-called conservatives live with the utopian concern that the USA will create a democracy in Iraq . Get over it people, it just ain't gonna happen.

Neat, handsome, boyish (in all aspects), Sean Hannity incessantly protects Pres. Bush on every issue, whether or not he needs to be protected. I get the impression that deep down, Sean suspects incompetence and wants to allay the discovery of a wrongdoing that might sway voters away from Bush.

On the other hand, you have ditzy Michael Moore, who indiscriminately attacks Pres. Bush on every issue. What Limbaugh lacks in normalcy, Moore seems to lack in personal hygiene. Then there's Al Franken, a comedian who likes to make fun of the president even if the issue is not necessarily funny. This wisecracker uses jokes to report on serious issues.

Now we have widespread photos of Iraqi prisoners of war in the buff being ridiculed by their captors. Forcing nude Iraqi men to pile up on each other is the work of weirdos, and distributing photos of the atrocity is anti-American. The perpetrators of this crime as well as the distributors of the photos should be punished.

The time-honored adage, "all is fair in love and war," connotes that, in challenges, not only is winning an important thing, it is the only thing that is important. This opens up opportunity for justification to do virtually anything to attain a goal.

Consequently, I am not surprised or shocked to see or hear about all of the atrocities being committed in Iraq and other middle eastern countries at war.

John Kerry may not be a panacea, but if you are interested in getting an administration in Washington that will get us back to some form of decency, accountability, and honor, Kerry is your only choice for president of the USA .

When George W. Bush was elected president, I stated in my LareDOS column at the time that George W. Bush was a joke, a fake, and an omen of ill fortune. I was right on all three counts . . . unfortunately.
