Writing Across Texas series spotlights

Texas authors and agents on PAC in April

A new series of educational television programs called Writing Across Texas debuts April 4 on Public Access Channel 3. “During lively 30-minute interviews, literary agents and successful Texas authors share their secrets about the art and business of writing,” said Sara Puig Laas, a volunteer with this Writers' League of Texas series. A Laredo native, Laas helped acquire the group of 13 shows for Laredo with the aid of a grant from Neel Title Corporation.

“These casual conversations on TV let high school and college students, as well as the general reading public, see writers as the fascinating individuals that they are. Writing Across Texas aims to entertain a broad audience and inspire individuals of any age to keep improving their writing skills. The authors share many tips and techniques for success,” said Laas.

“The programs are ideal for teachers to assign for extra credit in English, drama, or even history and civics classes,” said Laas. “I am grateful to Laredo Public Access-TV for its help in bringing this valuable learning tool to Laredoans.”

Laas is producer and host of Border Voices in the Arts, a Public Access program highlighting the contributions of border artists to American culture.
