City-wide worship service set for April 16
Laredoans are invited to a Christian city-wide worship service set for Saturday, April 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the UISD Student Activity Center auditorium. The event, organized by members of several Laredo churches, will feature music and fellowship.
“The purpose of the service is to worship,” said Lanny Hall, an organizer of the event and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. “This is planned as an inclusive event, a common ground. We want Laredoans to find a find a unique worship experience.”
Hall stressed that the event has no official sponsorship from any church, organization, business, or government agency, adding that the location was chosen with that idea in mind. “We decided to have it there instead of a church, because we don't want any identification with a particular church or denomination,” Hall said. “We want people to have a fresh, different worship experience.”
Members of the worship team include Gabe Valdez and Kevin Lindberg of the Church of the Crossroads, Ruben Vargas of Grace Bible Church , and others.
“The event will not be just one kind of service,” said Hall. “It will range from traditional, several hundred years old, to very cutting edge style. The style is not important, it's the pursuit. Our desire is to give worship to our God who is so deserving.”
