Lookout, Salem, the witch hunt business is about to get back in full swing! Attorney General John Ashcroft is now offering foreigners living in the USA special help to obtain American citizenship in return for providing information about terrorist suspects. What a stroke of luck for subversive weird wimps to make life miserable for anyone they despise .Who knows, we may even opt to bypass President George Bush's mandatory military tribunals, aka kangaroo court, and regress to burning at the stake. Would-be terrorists are already emigrating in search of an Al-Qaeda safe haven somewhere in the world since Tora Bora has been virtually annihilated by several million USA dollars of airdropped explosives. Sure!
While chaos, panic, and suffering abound in the Middle East and other parts of the world, it is incumbent upon all creatures of God to be aware that the overwhelming majority of war-inflicted death, despair, hunger, fear, and tragedy is being caused by eastern and western hemisphere religious sects fighting over turf.
Every one of these omnipotent sects - Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Protestant, etc. -- is convinced that God is on its side.
God is on the right side, God is on the just side. God is on the good side, God is on the best side. Which faction is right, just, good and best depends on what side you are on. Defeating the Taliban zealots was mandatory retribution. Militarily it's no big deal for us to stomp on a country the likes of Afghanistan. I cannot help but believe that any normal person with common sense knows that the bombs and bullets are chicken feed compared to the burden we are facing to impose a democratic form of government in a country encrusted by feudalism. Warlord after warlord, each wanting concessions from us that will finance their dynasty.
Our politicians have decreed that we the taxpayers, rich and poor alike, will pay for the cost of supplying food to the Afghani people.
My crystal ball tells me that a significant percentage of the food we send will fall into the hands of heavily armed warlords who will take what they need and sell the rest to the starving hordes in Pakistan. As I look deeper into the ball, I see a continuing series of battles between various armed groups wanting to sit at the negotiating table with the USA envoys to vie for the biggest piece of the cake. I see billions of dollars going to people who will come to hate us for trying to impose our way of life on them, because our way "is the best." It is a mistake the USA has been making as long as I have been aware of our intervention in foreign affairs.
Retribution has taken place, look for Osama discreetly, pull out of Afghanistan, pronto, and leave them to struggle for themselves as we have done since time immemorial. The Israeli-Palestinian tragedy should be the focus of our attention, because the consequences of back and forth bombing and killing between these people is causing far more harm than spending time and money to rebuild pockmarked Afghanistan.
If the current administration insists on continuing to pour billions of dollars into Afghanistan, prepare for the most horrendous tax increases ever!
