María Cristina Uribe to wed
Stephen Travis Short
Mr. and Mrs. Omar D. Uribe of Zapata announce the engagement of their daughter, María Cristina, to Stephen Travis Short of San Antonio. He is the son of Ms. Nell Short and Mr. Steve Short of San Antonio. The wedding will take place Saturday, March 6, at San Agustín Cathedral, with a reception to follow at the Laredo Country Club.
María Cristina is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Derly Uribe of Laredo and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lazaro Garza García of Río Grande City .
Stephen Travis is the grandson of the late James Short and Maxine Short of Kerrville and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Mask of Lytle.
The bride-to-be is a 1992 graduate of Zapata High School and a graduate of Texas A&M University - College Station , where she earned a BS in Agricultural Economics and a Master's in Agribusiness. She is a client relations representative for Van Kampen Investments of Houston, a Morgan Stanley company.
The prospective groom, a graduate of Clark High School in San Antonio , is also a graduate of Texas A&M University - College Station with a degree in petroleum engineering. He is a systems engineer for Amerada Hess Corporation in Houston .
A reception at the Laredo Country Club will follow the double ring ceremony officiated by Father Amador Garza of Río Grande City .
María Cristina and Travis will reside in Houston after a honeymoon in Tahiti .
