Laredo readers are urged to participate in the Laredo Public Library's "Love Your Library" contest which continues through February.
The contest rules are simple. Love Your Library contest cards are available at all branches of the library. Present a card whenever you check out any books, and the clerk will initial and date your card. You can ask for as many cards as you think you will need. Turn in all of the cards that you have used to any Laredo Public Library Branch by February 29, and you may win a prize for the Best Library Lover. Puppet Shows continue at the Main Library through February 18, staged daily by the Laredo Public Library Puppeteers from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
The Valentine's Book Sale, which benefits the Friends of Library fund to support library programs, continues through February 14. A special Valentine's story time is set for February 12 at the Main Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Parents of toddlers up to age three are invited to bring youngsters to Toddler Tuesdays for special activities from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
After school art activities sponsored by the Laredo Center for the Arts are also scheduled on Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m.
On Thursdays, youngsters are invited to a Preschool Storytime from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Main Library
Friday is the day for La Hora Del Cuento at the Main Library at 4 p.m., an hour for preschoolers to hear stories and participate in sing-alongs.
Two Science Fair Workshops are set at the Main Library for Tuesday, February 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, February 21, from 2 to 3 p.m. For further information on the workshops, call Rob Brown at 795-2400.
Free Computer Classes in Excel are set for Wednesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. at the Main Library. Classes for PowerPoint are set for Wednesday, February 18 at 6 p.m., also at the Main Library. For registration and further information, call Philip Hernandez at 795-2400 ext. 2234.
The TAMIU/Laredo Public Library Film Series presents OT, Wednesday, February 25,at 7:30 p.m. at the TAMIU Student Center Theatre. Admission to this screening is free. For more information, call Malia Watson at 795-2400 ext. 2232.
