Items needed from local artists for KLRN’s
annual "Blazing Gavels" TV auction

From paintings to statues, KLRN is seeking art donations for its annual TV auction, "Blazing Gavels." Scheduled for June 5-14, the auction will feature a variety of art pieces, along with thousands of additional items, including antiques, trips, jewelry, fine wines, dinner packages, and much more.
A panel of three jurists, Shirley Elrod, Roxi McCloskey, and Ray Cox, will jury all pieces donated by February 28. The selected pieces will comprise the 2003 Studio 9 Collection. The submission deadline is February 28 for the juried pieces, but donated items will be accepted until June.
The collection will be featured in a full color Studio 9 Catalog and on KLRN’s auction website blazinggavels.com. Four to six weeks before the auction, the collection will be displayed in San Antonio at the Weston Centre, 112 E. Pecan, on a rotating schedule. Then on May 29 the collection will be displayed at the Studio 9 Collection Preview Party at the Blue Star Art Space in San Antonio.
For more information on how to donate an item to the 37th Annual Great TV Auction "Blazing Gavels," call KLRN-TV at 210-270-9000 or 800-627-8193 and ask for the auction department. All proceeds from the "Blazing Gavels" Auction will benefit public television for South Texas.

The funds raised from the auction will help KLRN-TV to continue its mission to use the power of telecommunications to provide quality programs and services, which advance education, culture, and community, to enrich the lives of people throughout South Texas.
