Crime Stoppers

To the editor:

Wow! WET & WILD describes our 2003 Menudo Bowl. The weather made us worry but everyone’s enthusiasm pulled us through once more.
Thanks to the support of LareDOS we made the 8th Annual Menudo Bowl and 1st Annual Bike Run & Show that was held Saturday, January 25, 2003 a huge success.
The Menudo Bowl is our organization’s main fund raising activity and due to the commitment of the Laredo Crime Stoppers board of directors, staff, coordinator, volunteers, and sponsors, this year was a real success. We were able to provide excitement, suspense, and laughter to all and at the same time, raise much-needed funds for our organization. This year's event exceeded all of our expectations. The roping contest in the Rodeo Arena had over 500 teams participate and in the Menudo Cook-Off, 40 teams participated. It created "Menudo Madness" among the all the people that were on the grounds. It was evident that everyone enjoyed the festive atmosphere, the good food, and the great entertainment.
Drugs have eroded the fabric of our society, and Crime Stoppers has made a positive impact on combating drug trafficking and other drug related crimes in our community. Since our inception in 1981, we have taken $103,320,908 worth of drugs off the streets and have recovered $5,559,486 in stolen property. This is an exceptional accomplishment which has made Laredo Crime Stoppers one of the most effective programs in the state along with international acknowledgement from Crime Stoppers International. None of these achievements would have been possible without the support of our community, the media, and full cooperation of our law enforcement agencies.
On behalf of the Laredo Crime Stoppers Board of Directors I would like to thank the following for their support with the 8th Annual Menudo Bowl:
