LCC
Palomino sports in full swing
Palomino
athletic programs at Laredo Community College are in
full swing this spring, offering "MORE" excitement
for sport enthusiasts to enjoy.
Dr. Ramon H. Dovalina, LCC president and a big
fan of the Palominos, encourages persons of all ages
to experience the thrills of fast-paced collegiate athletics.
"As members of the Palomino athletics program,
student athletes are to be commended for their performance
both on and off the field. They work hard to represent
themselves well in the classroom and in the community.
Their accomplishments bring positive recognition to
LCC and the city. For that reason, our community should
be proud of our athletes, and come out and support them,"
said Dovalina.
The Palomino baseball team, headed by third-year
head coach Ruben Lozano, has started the season with
a string of wins against foes UT-Brownsville and Austin
Community College.
The team's schedule includes matches against National
Christian University, Blinn College, Schreiner College,
San Jacinto College, Galveston College, South Suburban
College, Alvin College, Independence College, and Wharton.
The nationally ranked Palomino men's and women's
tennis teams are also involved in hot conference action
this season. The team's game schedule includes matches
against UT-San Antonio, A&M-Corpus Christi, Schreiner,
Incarnate Word University, Temple Junior College, Tyler
Junior College, Collin County College, Lee College and
UT-Pan American. The team is led by Coach Jaime Donjuan.
All home games are free and open to the community.
