Jam for George features Jefferson Starship & Blue Oyster Cult


The El Metro Park and Ride on Hillside is the scene for the First Annual Jam for George Concert set for Friday, Feb. 15. Jefferson Starship and Blue Oyster Cult will perform that evening, along with other musical and comedy acts by Cleto Rodriguez, Freddy Hernandez, and Ponchi Herrera. The evening's concert, which is one of the newest Washington's Birthday Celebration events, benefits the non-profit Laredo Little Theatre.
Pre-sale tickets for the event cost $10 and are available at Casa de Musica Guadalupe, Laredo Mini-Mart, Laredo Paint & Decorating, Lexington Drive In, Move Palace Video, San Ramon Record Shop, and the WBCA kiosk at Mall del Norte. Tickets at the door will cost $12. Parking is free for the evening across from the Park and Ride.
A.B. Barrera spearheads the Jam for George steering committee. Other committee members include Laurie Moreno, Robbie García, Diane Ramirez, Memo Lopez, Joey Baeza, Albert Peña, Alice Medina, Angie Madrigal, Dinah Peña, Gabriel Santamaria, Jaime Fuentes, Johnny Narvaez, José M. Guevara, Judy Wawroski, Mike Kazen, Ones Medina, Ponchi Herrera, and Victor Gonzalez.
According to Barrera, cold beer and good food are also on tap for this evening under the stars.
