Summer camps guide focuses
on outdoor fun, learning

AUSTIN -- For the many parents pondering options for their children this summer, Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine has assembled "Outdoor Summer Camps," a listing of resident and day camps in Texas specializing in outdoor skills.
The listing appears as an eight-page pullout special section in the center of the February issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife. It covers 44 camps in all regions of Texas, listing specialty offerings, session schedules, prices, activities, and best reasons to go for each camp.
"We've chosen camps with an outdoors emphasis," said Susan Ebert, TPW magazine publisher and editor. "These are great places where children can swim, go on nature hikes or, in a few cases, learn about marine biology or wildlife management. We hope parents can use this as a starting point to plan their children's summer."
Garland Levit, who writes for the Round Rock Leader and is currently an editorial intern at Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine, compiled the guide. He spent 10 summers as a camper and counselor at Vista Camps in Ingram.
The article is available in the Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine's February issue, available at newsstands and bookstores across Texas. It can also be found online at www.tpwmagazine.com. For magazine subscriptions, phone (800) 937-9393.
