How does the media label you as a registered voter?

The media has all voters labeled, categorized, or in a bloc as Conservative, Independent, or Liberal. Beyond that, voters are now even corralled as the Moral Majority.

I prefer this voter class distinction rather than the trite and tired Democrat, Republican, and Other labels.

Instead of looking for definitions in my Merriam-Webster's I decided to do some autobiographical research to determine in which category I best qualify for a snug fit.

I was born into a working class family with notorious and noble ancestry that squandered substantial property and money long before I came upon the scene, so I started at the bottom financially and worked my way to a comfortable, respectable lifestyle.

I consider myself Conservative, because I have a strong work ethic, consider at least 60 percent of welfare programs abusive to the working class that foots the bill for non-workers.

I firmly believe that formal governing authority at all levels should protect the public from unlawful harm and leave citizens to make decisions concerning their livelihood.

As a Liberal I believe the catchall phrase that all persons are born equal; however, only if they have all the physical and mental qualities necessary to begin a normal existence.

Beyond that, being born into a loving, caring family is most important.

Unfortunately, some people are no that lucky and therefore we must help them as best we can individually and through government programs.

All people should consider their humanity first and their financial status second. We as human beings should be willing to help persons in need without first thinking that all welfare is merely a government that causes taxes to increase and creates slackers.

Facts are that some folks just have bad luck and need help.

I am an Independent, because I make decisions based on my own research rather than depend primarily on a compilation of other people's opinions.

I have voted for Reagan, Nixon, Kennedy, and Clinton, so my label is neither Republican or Democrat.

Finally, I am part of the Moral Majority, because I am a person of high morals.

By the way, a person does not have to embrace only Christianity to be a part of the moral majority. That label applies to all decent, law-abiding registered voters of any religious bent.

Consequently, I fit snugly into every media-generated political class distinction and based on all this, you might say I am a concerned, loyal American citizen interested in the welfare of our country and its citizens.

After all of this, in spite of the election results and with a sincere hope and prayer for the triumph of the United States of America in all aspects, I truly believe we have a serious problem confronting us with George W. Bush a president for the next four years.

We need to practice the grin and bear it emotion, because we, our children, and our grandchildren will be paying for our current president's past and continuing poor judgment and ineptitude.

Don't do like the federal government does, budget yourself, save as much money as you can, and don't live on borrowed funds a la Bush!

Happy Holidays.
