set for Jan. 31

The Streets of Laredo Urban Mall Association kicks off the 2004 Washington's Birthday Celebration festivities with its sixth annual street festival, the Popeyes Jamboozie Mardi Gras, Saturday, Jan. 31.
The festival is part of the Streets of Laredo Urban Mall Association's ongoing campaign to promote awareness of downtown and to reacquaint Laredoans with the historic downtown district.
The one-day event will feature a Carnival-style ambience, shopping, food, live music, and the festival's signature purple drink, the Jamboozie.
The festival is free to the public before 6 p.m. After 6, entrance fee is $1 at the gate, and kids 12 and under are free.
