meeting of the Pan American Round Table.

American Round Table meets
The Pan American Round
Table held its November meeting at the Executive Club.
The meeting was called to order by director Julia
Ruhlman.
The director of the Day was Marcia Jovel. Sheila Glassford,
second associate director of area B, welcomed honorary
members Norma Benavides and Gloria Zuniga and guests
Ellen Tadros, Chita Ramos, Pilar Dabdoub, Olga Verduzco,
and Marta Alonzo.
Minutes of the last meeting were read by Diana Rodriguez,
and the treasurer’s report was given by Patricia
Keck.
Letti Menchaca, Hercilia Camina, and Rosario Azios
were in charge of decorations.
Parliamentarian Toni Ruiz read the names of five new
members to be voted for membership. They were accepted
unanimously.
The planning of the state convention to be held at
La Posada Hotel March 28-31 was discussed.
The program speaker, Joy Harewood, was introduced
by Marcia Jovel.
Ms. Harewood is a women’s health care nurse
at Doctor’s Hospital. She is married to Patrick
H. Harewood, pastor at the Pastor’s Lighthouse
Assembly of God.
She delighted everyone with her talk on Barbados,
where she has visited 11 times. Her in-laws reside
there.
She showed beautiful slides and presented an exceptional
program discussing the country, their traditions,
their music, and the lovely people who live there.
For its Annual Christmas Tea, the Round Table met
at the International Bank of Commerce.
The Director of the Day was Rosa María De Llano,
who arranged for a performance from The Nutcracker
Suite for the wonderful entertainment. Dancers were
from the Vidal Treviño School of Communications
and Fine Arts along with private students from Laredo
Ballet Theater. Choreography was by Mary Ellen Kirkpatrick
Leyendecker. Costumes were by Elizabeth Leyendecker.
Christina De Llano portrayed the Sugar Plum Fairy;
Augusta Jones, the Snow Queen; Sara Flores, Chinese
Tea; Chaine Leyendecker, as Clasa; and Eli Mendoza,
the Nutcracker Prince.
Approximately 60 people attended. Director Julia Ruhlman
thanked Olga Verduzco for making the arrangement at
IBC, which provided a terrific merienda. The Pan American
ladies were most appreciative.
