Anne
Brennan Vela prospering in San Antonio
Anne Brennan Vela
has done so much for art in Laredo. She now resides
and maintains a home and studio in San Antonio. A
native of Ohio, Anne lived in Laredo for 35 years.
She has been painting in watercolor, watermedia, acrylic,
and collage for the past 40 years and continues to
educate herself by attending workshops of leading
artists in the field.
Anne’s work has been accepted in many national
and regional exhibitions across the United States.
As president of the Laredo Art League, Anne founded
the Laredo Center for the Arts in 1993. She was named
Woman of the Year in 1997 by the Laredo Morning Times
and received the Paul Harris award from the Rotary
Club for her contribution to the arts in Laredo.
Anne is a signature member of the Texas Watercolor
Society, as well as a member of the Southwestern Watercolor
Society, Southern Watercolor Society, the International
Society of Experimental Artists, and the First Frontier
Collage Society. She also maintains associate membership
in the American and National Watercolor Societies.
She is currently represented by Textures Gallery and
the Anna Rose Gallery in San Antonio. She paints and
exhibits with the Brushstokes of San Antonio.
