Center
for the Arts hosts
anniversary gala
The
Laredo Center for the Arts will kick off its 10-year
anniversary celebration with its Noche de Arte Gala
fundraiser Friday, September 20, at 7 p.m. The event
will be held throughout the Center building.
The black-tie event will feature a silent auction,
cocktails, dinner, entertainment, and dancing. Music
will be provided by ELS from Metairie, Louisiana.
Food will be provided by gourmet caterer Don Strange
of San Antonio.
Auction items include jewelry by Vogue magazine featured
artist Lazaro Diaz from SOHO in New York City, furniture
by Evan Quiros, and artwork by Amado Peña and
Mary Quiros.
Proceeds from the event will help the Center continue
to provide art exhibitions, performances, and outreach
programs. For the past ten years, the Center has provided
monthly art exhibits by thousands of professional
artists from around the world. The Center's outreach
program, with suppor from the Lamar Bruni Vergara
Foundation, had been able to offer school tours, classroom
visits, summer art programs, after-school art programs,
and adult art workshops to local communities and schools.
Tickets for the Noche de Arte Gala are $100 per person
and are available at the Center for the Arts, 500
San Agustin Ave. The Center is free and open to the
public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 10
a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday.
