Elizabeth Coates Portman & John Edmond Minne, Jr. exchange vows at Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church Episcopal was the setting for the July 19 marriage of Elizabeth Coates Portman and John Edmond Minne, Jr.
Rev. Robert Plested of San Antonio officiated at the evening ceremony. He was assisted by Brother Mary Joseph Weyne of the Congregation of the Brothers of St. John.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Deborah Snyder Portman and Michael Portman and the granddaughter of Sophie Rosenbaum Snyder and the late John Andrew Snyder and Tom Simpson of Iredell, Texas and the late Ouilda T. Simpson.
John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Minne, formerly of Laredo , and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Link. His paternal grandparents are Louise Minne of Avon Park , Florida and the late Paul Minne.
Elizabeth was given in marriage by her father. She wore a spaghetti-strap A-line gown of ivory silk designed by Ramona Keveza. The petite bride's dress was enhanced by bridal buttons down the back of the gown and an asymmetrical cathedral length train of Italian silk, a Ramona Keveza signature piece. Her Regalia of Boston cathedral veil was embellished with Austrian crystals.
Sally Tresh of San Antonio was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Erin Portman, Grace Marie Snyder, Alexis Casso, Presly Ann Rose, Marissa Almaraz, Kate Gruy, Aimee Arrambide, and Michelle Neimeyer. Bridesmaids wore tea-length gowns accentuated with a Swarovski crystal necklace and earrings, gifts from the bride.
Michael Gonzalez served John Minne as best man. Groomsmen were Jules Minne and Benj Minne, brothers of the groom, and Michael Davis Portman, John Robert Portman, and Thomas Andrew Portman, brothers of the bride, and Gabe Link, Micheal De Jean, and Zachary Hildebrand. Andrew Carranco served as usher.
Flower girls were Sylvia Carmen Nelson, Scarlett Allee, and Kathryn Mary Carranco. Robert William Carranco was the ring bearer.
The scripture readers were Cynthia Lew of Austin and Deborah Portman.
Vocalist Veronica Ramirez sang “Ave Maria” and the “Sabbath Prayer.” Daniel Lugo performed the processional “Trumpet Voluntary.” Dr. Ray Keck was the organist for the celebration.
Hot Cakes provided the memorable music at a reception that followed at the Laredo Country Club.
Elizabeth, an honors graduate in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin , earned a master's in child psychology from Columbia University in New York and is completing academic requirements for a doctoral degree in child psychology at the University of Texas at Austin . She is employed as a researcher in the university's psychology department and is also a psychologist for the Austin Independent School District .
John, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, is employed at a computer technology firm in Austin .
Elizabeth and John honeymooned in Italy and Belgium and now make their home in Austin .
