Joseph Richter & Joanna Benavides announce engagement

 

Mr. and Mrs. José E. Benavides announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter Joanna Aurora to Joseph Lee Richter, son of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Richter.

The couple plans a May 22 marriage at St. Patrick's Church with a reception to follow at the Executive Club.

Joanna is an English instructor at Laredo Community College , and Joe is a real estate agent for La Bota Ranch Realty.

Joe surprised Joanna with an engagement party August 23, 2003.

He picked her up at her home and then flew her by helicopter to the Richter farm in South Laredo , where he proposed after landing in view of the bride's and groom's family and close friends who attended the party.

Guests enjoyed a barbeque dinner under the family's grape arbor, which dates back more than 100 years. The evening ended with a fireworks display.
