Kudos
to Los Generales & Zapata's Holiday Restaurant
for putting the brakes on smoking
The
best breakfast spot in Laredo just got better. Los
Generales on Santa María has banished smoking
as of the first of the year, something non-smokers
really appreciate.
Ditto for the Holiday Restaurant on Hwy. 83 in Zapata.
You can still get a side of second hand smoke at the
Country Corner in Cotulla. Phewey! And you can still
get the same slow service, much to the chagrin of
travelers trying to make time.
The MC reports excellent service in women's shoes
at Dillard's.
When your hosts in San Antonio have turned to Chai
tea, you can run to Espuma on S. Alamo for some high
octane coffee. This is a great spot to catch up with
newspaper reading.
Also in the King William area, have a tasty bite to
eat at the Mad Hatter on Beauregard. Excellent food,
excellent service.
The MC found great and friendly service at Home Depot's
garden department.
As always, Jiffy Lube was quick and efficient and
did all possible to get the MC on the road, well,
in a jiffy.
Luncheon was a pleasure with a special guest at Tokyo
Garden; very nice service and great attention to promptness.
At Juvencio's, the MC experienced great personal service
in the fitting of a suit. Alterations were expertly
done and ready when they were supposed to be.
Guerra's Automotive got the MC's vehicle ready for
the highway with a fast, expert tire rotation.
If you're in the market for grown hens or baby chicks
and baby ducks, Laredo Ranch Store has a nice and
ever-changing selection.
In South Laredo check out Green Acres Nursery half
a block off Hwy. 83 and the intersection of Willow.
The place is filled with well cared-for foliage plants
and container stock for outdoor plantings. Nice folks
provided good information.
At Paul's Desert in Schertz, Texas, you'll find an
amazing offering of cacti and succulents -- a little
bit of the regular stuff, but a great deal of low
maintenance plant life you've never seen before. Not
only can you buy well-rooted specimen plants, but
you can also tap into the wealth of knowledge offered
by the owners. Take the Schertz Parkway off I-35 until
you get to 200 Schertz Parkway. You can't miss it.
