LCC Alumni & Friends host first-ever Legacy Awards

Laredo Community College’s newly formed LCC Alumni and Friends hosted the first ever Legacy Awards on Thursday, November 2, to recognize community leaders who have helped support the school’s mission.

The award recipients and their respective areas of service were Justice Patricia Alvarez of the Fourth Court of Appeals; assistant coach Kaleb Canales of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks; engineer Oscar Castillo, science and technology; Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar, law enforcement; Gonzalez Auto Parts, workforce and vocational education; LareDOS publisher Meg Guerra, environmental stewardship; Armando Hinojosa, the visual arts; Dr. Jacinto Juarez, education; and Elmo López Jr., health science.

Shirley and Bob Gonzalez of the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Foundation were accorded the Lifetime Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to both the community and Laredo Community College.

The event took place at the Kazen Student Center on the Fort McIntosh Campus.
