The Webb County Heritage Foundation celebrates Laredo’s “Haunted Heritage – Myths and Legends of Laredo” with a photo exhibit of Laredo’s most infamous haunted sites. The exhibit is up for the month of October at the Villa Antigua® Border Heritage Museum at 810 Zaragoza St. in historic, downtown Laredo. The museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Among the spine-tingling characters featured in the exhibit are La Llorona and the chupacabra. The exhibit includes black and white photos of Laredo buildings purported to be haunted and their mysterious urban legend narratives

Movies on the Patio

The Foundation will host three evenings of  “Movies on the Patio” on consecutive Fridays in October at the Villa Antigua Border Heritage Museum, 810 Zaragoza St. at 7:30 p.m. Two of the films are classic horror movies from the 1950s; and one movie from 1995 is a Mel Brooks horror-comedy spoof featuring the great Leslie Nielsen.

The October 6 presentation will be Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), one of the greatest and most influential sci-fi films of all time. The following Fridays, October 13 and 20, will feature Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995), and The Fly (1958), respectively.

The films will be presented outdoors on the patio of the Border Heritage Museum. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is provided. Audience members are invited to dress in costume and participate with sound effects.

An added feature will be limited table seating and movie snacks from the “Bordertown Bistro” concession area. All proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Webb County Heritage Foundation.

Enjoy a spooky movie evening under the stars in historic, downtown (haunted) Laredo. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.
