The Laredo Little Theatre production of Disney’s Mulan Jr. opens July 27 at 8 p.m. at the LLT at 4802 Thomas.

Directed by Lisa G. King and assistant director Roxi U. Vela-Cuellar, the play is this year’s Children’s Summer Musical Production and features over 40 young performers who range in age from 7 to 22 and represent over 18 Laredo schools.

The thrilling adventure features colorful sets, beautiful costumes, and spectacular dance numbers. The production is choreographed by King and musically directed by Dr. Joseph Crabtree.

Disney’s Mulan Jr. is a heartwarming celebration of culture, honor, and the fighting spirit of ancient China. The action-packed, stage adaptation promises to excite audiences with a story filled with non-stop fun and adventure.

Mulan is a young woman who breaks tradition and pretends to be a man. She learns a valuable lesson against all odds while teaching her family the importance of determination and balance. It’s a show that features music and dancing that will captivate audience members with a message that will inspire children of all ages.

“As Laredo’s only community playhouse, we are proud to offer a venue for Laredo children to learn about the theater craft,” said A.B. Barrera, LLT board member and publicity officer. “These kids have been working tirelessly for months to bring this production to life. We usually sell out quickly and encourage the public to buy tickets early,” he added.

Other show dates are July 27, 28, and 29; and August 3, 4, and 5 at 8:00 p.m. Matinees are set for July 30 and August 6 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available online at www.laredolittletheatre.org
