Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa Jr. and Blas Castañeda will be honored at the 2017 AHEC Academic Programs Dinner on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at La Posada Hotel.

The Honorees were selected for their strong support and commitment to the Area Health Education Center in its early years.

Both honorees were instrumental in setting the solid foundation that has allowed AHEC to grow and most importantly, to touch the lives of thousands in the communities of Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, LaSalle, Dimmit, and Duval counties.

“Their continued support of AHEC and their exemplary service in their respective fields has made a significant difference in AHEC and its mission of better health services for the families of our communities” remarked Julie Bazan, AHEC executive director.
