An architectural treasure in a state of ruin

This well populated nesting place for downtown pigeons at 920 Salinas (and Victoria) continues its march of neglect and decay with water damage, broken windows, and rotten wood. The hotel was built around 1910 in Classical Revival style. The black and white photo to the left was taken by Evelyn Beasley in 1981 for inclusion in a survey of historic buildings in Laredo. The photo on the right was taken this morning. Webb CAD lists the owner of record as Fernando Cantu III. B/W photo courtesy of the Webb County Heritage Foundation.

  1. Where is Fernando Cantú 111 and why doesn’t he care about this building?
