The Children’s Advocacy Center of Laredo-Webb County will host “An Evening with Jaycee Dugard” on Wednesday, April 26 at the IBC Annex Ballroom at 6:30 p.m.

Dugard, the survivor of a 1991 kidnapping who was returned to her family in 2009, is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, A Stolen Life: A Memoir (2011) and Freedom: My Book of Firsts (2016).

She and her family established the JAYC Foundation, Inc. in 2011 as a resource to help families that have suffered a familial or non-familial abduction and to spread the message of compassion and awareness through education. The Foundation encourages the collaboration of various entities to provide “Protected Spaces” for families to heal. Law enforcement trainings are also offered in which Dugard and her team utilize her story to encourage and motivate a victim-centered approach.

The event is the annual fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center. All proceeds fund programs for the sexually and physically abused chlildren served by the Center.
